STRAWBERRY CHIA BREAKFAST SHAKE

Hot summer days are the best time to have a cool smoothie for breakfast or even as a snack, and fantastic if your in a rush and have no choice but to take breakfast with you. I always add yogurt in the bottom for an extra kick of flavour but that’s just optional.

1 cup fresh strawberries
1 ½ cups almond milk
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 tablespoon flax seed oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons agave syrup optional
1 teaspoon maca powder

1. Put almond milk, strawberries, flax seed oil, vanilla extract, maca powder and agave syrup ( if using) into a blender and blend on high until all the ingredients are completely smooth.

2. Add mixture and chia seeds into a jar with a tight fitting lid, tighten lid and shake, chia seeds have a habit of sticking together so make sure that it is mixed evenly. Place in the fridge for 2 hours or overnight. Serve as is or add yoghurt and fresh berries.
